Why is it that no school in Korea seems to be planning ahead of time? I know there have to be teachers who have contracts ending in August or September, but there are only ads on the board for "immediate hire". It seems to me if you started looking for a teacher a few months before you needed one you might be a bit better off. Also, considering that it does take time to get a visa and what not, it would be better for everyone. Less trips to Japan, more time to get it settled in the states or Canada, or your respective home country.
Well, aside from all the griping, I thought I'd take matters into my own hands and see if anyone who's leaving in August or September might like to give me a heads up about a position.
I've five years experience, and I really like working with kindergarteners, (I feel almost ashamed to admit that, but it's true).
you can send me an email at [email protected] or pm me. |

The norm for Korea is "Don't worry about it... everything will be just fine..."
Then at the last minute, or after the last minute, it's scramble time.
I often find myself "looking out" for Koreans to make sure they don't forget to do something in time (talking about my Visa issuance stuff, etc.).
It depends on the person and the situation, but on a whole, Korean planning (or lack thereof) makes me nervous. |
