I was just curious about if HPV would make you fail a E2 health check, I don't believe it is a huge health risk, and there inst even a standard test for it in males. |

There's no STD test, only blood and urine. Nothing to worry about. |

You'll be ok...the truth is that most men who are sexually active have the HPV virus (whether they know it or not)...its just a matter of the symptoms showing. |

The "health check" for admission into the country only checks for certain "transmutable" diseases like TB and AIDS (although Korea is set to remove AIDS-based regulations so even that may vanish). Also, HPV is generally diagnosed in men by visible symptoms or women by an irregular pap smear (and in either case the treatment is rather easy and painless, some freezing or some scraping). Yes you may retain some degree of virus after that but most likely you're fine.
Quit worrying but if you've got it get it treated. (I don't mean to insult you but I have met people who lacked that common sense before.) |

Thomas I don't think that they checked for all bacterial STD's. In order for a Chlamydia test they stick a long probe down your Urethra about 2 inches. It wouldn't surprise me that they test for UTI, but without running a culture they wouldn't know if it were STD or just a normal bacterial infection.
The most common that I know are tested are VDRL, HIV, Hep B,
Since many bacterial STDs are treated with a course of antibiotics, I doubt that it is a big deal to them.
If you have a visible HPV out break, they might say something, but my last physical they didn't even have me get undressed. |

To add to the information already given...
HPV infection in men is generally not something to worry about; at its worst, it causes benign cutaneous lesions (e.g., warts). However, in women, approximately 15 of the more than 150 'strains' are associated with cancer, with the two most common and severe being types 16 and 18. Women >30 or those with a confirmed HPV infection should be regularly screened via Pap smear.
HPV is considered the most common sexually transmitted illness in the world, with the cumulative lifetime risk of infection estimated at >75%. Basically, everyone's had it at one point or another. The vast majority of these infections are self-limited or controlled by the immune system.
A vaccine is currently available that protects against types 16 and 18, with more broad-spectrum vaccines on the way. Treatment of lesions can include cryotherapy, but a much less traumatic therapy is Imiquimod, a topical cream, which may go under the trademarked name, Aldara. |

So, they make you get undressed for the physical? Is this for the E2 visa, or the mandatory testing you have to go through in Korea before starting your work?
Seems kinda degrading (the undressing part to a stranger) to those that have never done such a thing before.
I can understand the blood tests, but the undressing.... |

I said that they didn't have me get undressed.
Usually for a physical the doctor will have you drop your trousers and check for hernias and other things.
Undressing in front of a stranger, this is a doctor not a member of immigration.
Doctors probably have seen my willy more than my wife. Just joking of course. But it is common for doctors to have people disrobe. Yes you are usually covered with the seeyourassgown, but it shouldn't be a new experience for an adult to be partly exposed to a doctor.

No, I'm not a Mormon. I just don't like the idea of some stranger touching and examining my private parts. |

Why would you respond to a thread that was posted almost a month ago? |

Because I probably missed the thread a month ago due to being busy or just didn't notice it. A month's really not that long anyway.
Now that I've answered your question, do you care to answer mine? |
