Wow... woke up at 7:30am this morning and the sky was very dark and orange. Kind of like yellow dust was here.
Now... SNOW! Not gonna drive in to work today! |

Man, I just poked my head out the window and the words, "OH, SNAP!!"
came outta my mouth. Now I'm think'n, "Did I really just say that?!" Ha!
I still have to drive to work regardless. I take it you're heading off to a camp as well? I'm curious to see how many students/parents show up today to kick off the camp. |

It's really snowing.
Anyone know if the buses will run in this snow?
I just called my coteacher and she told me to try and catch a taxi to work.
Who thinks I should tell me coteacher "F* that, I'm staying home. Snowing, snowing, it's snowing!"? |

I just canceled my classes due to the snow. The text messages were pouring in with, "...class today?" and "please, no class! I take the bus and it's dangerous", so I canceled.
But wow, that's actually a lot of snow for Seoul. It says it's supposed to snow all day, but any idea of how many centimeters or inches we're looking at? |

Just south of Suwon.
My school is 10km away over mountains and deep valleys.
A foot of snow, and more coming.
I dug my scooter out. No traction what so ever.
No bus connection to school.
Taxi? What's the point?
Two roads only, both jammed with cars slipping and sliding.
First day of winter camp.
I called and said: I'll try to get there; when the road clears; maybe tomorrow?

Is snow that rare in Korea or is there a blizzard? |

It doesn't normally snow this hard in Seoul, plus the snow from the last snow hadn't gone which is rare.

I can't reach any of my managers to ask if classes are cancelled.
I live about a 30-minute drive away from work.
I don't want to risk getting into an accident by driving and i waited 45 minutes for my bus which never came.
I don't want to be fired for missing work.
Any advice?? |

Try contacting other teachers if possible.
If not, have a day of "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" and just get there.
As long as you make an effort to get there, that all it counts. |

Interesting, I left Korea on Saturday morning and it was lightly snowing. I am in China south of Beijing and all day Sunday it snowed like this was Canada or the mid-west USA. There is over a foot of snow outside. It looks like Korea got the same weather front that nailed Beijing and the areas around Beijing yesterday with snow. |

Unfortunately, not all are. I'm working today. I live in the country. The headteacher said that the snow is worse out here than in the nearest city yet we are still open. I know that there are a few schools that are closed in the nearest city. I still don't have any students so I don't really see the point of keeping me here. Ho hum. Happy snow day for those who can enjoy it! |
