Harsh but amusing nonetheless. Detroit won BTW!

That article was hilarious, especially this bit:

Quote:
A man from Wolverhampton who happened to be in New York on 9/11 and met President Bush:

Bush comes up to shake his hand asks him where he's from. The man replies "Wolverhampton".

"I don't know that place," says Bush. "What state is it in?" "The man from Wolverhampton looks around him and replies, "It's pretty much like this really."

Quality.

I hate all the Soviet-style concrete buildings of Seoul most of all. It's truly monstrous.

On the other hand, Seoul is far superior to the soul-sucking, post-apocalyptic wasteland favela called Los Angeles.

So if I'm in Detroit and that's the worst city to live in, then if I move to Seoul I should be approximately 3 times happier right?

Looks like I am upgrading then. I live right outside of Detroit now and am moving to right outside of Seoul.

Actually Seoul is one of the nicest cities I've lived in. I don't understand why all the detractors stay here.

Well, Detroit does have ridiculously affordable housing - at $7,500 for a home there. Shocked

http://archives.chicagotribune.com/2009/jan/29/nation/chi-detroit-housingjan29

It may be tough to get financing for a new car these days, but in Detroit you can buy a house with a credit card.

The median price of a home sold in Detroit in December was $7,500, according to Realcomp, a listing service.

Not $75,000. Remove a zeroits seven thousand five hundred dollars, substantially less than the lowest-price car on the new-car market.

Among the many dispiriting numbers that bleakly depict the decrepitude of this onetime industrial behemoth, the steep slide of housing values helps define the daunting challenge to anyone who wants to lead this shrinking, poverty-pocked city of about 800,000 people.

Were always fighting ourselves out of a hole, said Wayne County Sheriff Warren Evans.

The whole article is a joke. The entire list is based on one man's opinion.

Or the person who wrote the article was simply trolling.

Lol it's written by the lonely planet people. Therefore it obviously sucks, is inaccurate, and is probably sporting a scruffy beard and crappy imitation dreadlocks.
