Like North America, I'm not so worried about cars going 120 rather than 110, but by intoxicated drivers or ones texting going 160. This is the sort of problem which needs enforcement.
Interesting article. Gasoline mileage tends to drop at these high speeds, and I wonder if diesel does the same? |

Problem is that you're always going to have people driving 80 on the highway and increasing the speed difference isn't a good thing. If anyone has driven on the 401 through Ontario will know what I mean. Those 100 car pile-ups in fog, because people are going way too fast follow way too close for the conditions.
110 km/h should be the highest. Personally I think 100 is the ideal, 120 km/h is just too fast as the posted speed limit. That means you're going to increase most peoples speeds by 10 or 20 km/h. So someone that likes going 160 will start going 170 or 180. And still there will be those drivers going 80 km/h. |

| They could do away with speed limits altogether and it wouldn't matter. Have you ever gotten your car up past 60 kph? When you're stuck at a snail's pace and can only go as fast as the Hyundai Morning in front of you, speed limit signs are just a comical reminder of how bad traffic really is here. |

There is a stretch between Daejeon and Gumi where traffic lightens up a lot. Maybe a good 1 1/2 hours of relatively traffic free driving. Maybe they'll raise the speed limit in that one area. |
