Young children spanked by their parents may grow up to be happier and more successful than those who have never been hit, a study has found.
According to the research, children spanked up to the age of 6 were likely as teenagers to perform better at school and were more likely to carry out volunteer work and to want to go to college than their peers who had never been physically disciplined.
But children who continued to be spanked into adolescence showed clear behavioral problems.... |

why not.. I mean if a 2-4 year old child is painting on the walls, or throwing food around the house and being silly.. and you have tried repeatedly for days to tell him its wrong etc.. A little smack on the hand or on the leg or bum with a stern voice "NO"!!!! will work.. then the baby will understand..baby will think.. emmmm
"damn.. better not do that anymore"!!
I see these mothers in Emart all the time.. even back home too..
you know the type.. the I will never hit my child type..
the kids are running around like a bat out of hell! screaming, shouting, knocking stuff over.. I WANT I WANT I WANT.. crying and carrying on..
mother is.."ohh please be quit johnny, ohh no johnny.. you can't do that..
the baby is still crying, and screaming for chocolate or a toy hitting his sister over the head and making her cry.. while the mother smiles and tries to restrain him without losing face...
I ALWAYS walk past and say.. TRY SMACKING him once and while.. that will fix him up!!!! JESUS!!! control your children.. I smacked my daughter once in her life!! one time!.. when she was 4.. a smack on the leg.. after that she knew not to push me to far I warned her for days not to do it.... never had to smack her ever again after that...and now a look from me she knows...
my mother was like that with us.. MAN when she gave us that look. it was it.. time to stop!!!
children are smart.. dont let them take advantage of you..
of course I do not agree with abusing children with sticks, or bats, or torture etc.. like I have seen some of my friends parents do..
but a baby smack on the bum.. I think that is ok...
but some of the sick Ajumas in my neighbourbood.. you know what they did???
on the opening day of the new elementary school here.. I live in a new town.. they PRESENTED.. presented.. the school with a stick to cane the children with.. HAHAHHAH the mothers presented a cane... wrapped up and named the love stick hahahahaha
JESUS CHRIST!!! now that is terrible.. I said to my wife.. what is that???
she shook her head and said a stick to hit the children.. I WAS LIKE WTF!????? my wife was shaking her head...
NOWAY do teachers or anyone apart from me have the right to hit my child.. and frankly speaking. I dont think you have to hit a child after 5 or 6 years old.. at that time you really can teach your child right or wrong.. as long as you have surrounded that child in a house where he picks those mannerism up..
some children though.. jesus.. god help their parents..
I have seen some right HORRORS in my old hakwon days.. jesus I use to wonder what kind of parents that child had... even till this day walking around I see these boys 7-11 years old.. right terrors! wonder what their fathers do.... |

I agree spanking a child is good for them.
If I have children and I'm living in the US, and they are acting like a complete snot in a public place, I would like nothing better than to slap their bottom with a stern "Stop it now."
BUT
You do that, and 10 security cameras have seen you, other customers and employees see you and suddenly you are a child abuser. You are paraded on national TV and network news as a "dangerous" parent. Social services takes your children away. |

Ditto. The same in Canada. Police helicopters swirling down.
But the article should say, "Spanked adults are happier and more successful..." |

Interesting, but lets not forget its one study. Personally, I'm open to the idea of spanking my (future) kids. |

I wish they would make up their minds. I read a couple of months ago how a child who isn't spanked will grow up more successful, etc.
I can't remember where I read it, but I'm sure it's not hard to find. |
