Snow Country Scenery Tour to Taebaek (by train)

Period: January 31, 2010 - January 31, 2010
Place: Train trip: Seoul Station, Chujon station, Sungbu station, Danyang station, Seoul

Details
The Snow Country Scenery Tour, which earned enormous and instant popularity with full cars on every run when it was introduced in 1998, resumes its daily service, providing passengers an opportunity to enjoy romantic winter days with is wonderful snow scenery. From the comfort of our train carriage, we can feel the romance of Korean winter. Even when there is no snow, which has happened on rare occasions, the magnificent scenery is well worth the trip.

The Mugunghwa train stops at four stations, including Chujon (12:40~1:00), Sungbu (13:45~14:35), and Danyang (16:40~18:10). The five-car train can carry about 360 passengers at a time.

Outside the window, there spreads another world, completely different from familiar ones, allowing passengers, mostly tired city dwellers, to fall into their far-reaching dreams during the ride. Despite the generally desolate look of winter, passengers may appreciate passing leafless trees, empty rice fields, the nests of birds, or snow-covered countryside.

In the midst of fleeting winter landscapes, you can be reminded anew of the preciousness of your beloved families, and build plans for the bright future. The natural beauty of the areas surrounding Mt. Taebaek or the Namhan-gang and Nakdong-gang rivers is fascinating enough for adults and children alike. The train also passes through the 2 Tunnel, dubbed the Toari Gul (tunnel in a shape of snake sitting), and Juknyong (bamboo pass) Tunnel.

The train will leave Seoul Station at 7:20 a.m., and will have four rest stops along the way. The first rest stop will be at Chujon station for 20 minutes and then we will stop at Sungbu station for 40 minutes where you can see the beautiful countryside scenery. The last stop will be Danyang station where we will stop for 1 hour and 30 minutes. We will return back to Seoul at 9:45 p.m.

The cost of the tour is W49,000 for members and W 58,800 for non-members. We will meet in front of MacDonald's on the 2nd floor of Seoul Station at 7:00 a.m. sharp. Please be on time. You may bring your own lunch or purchase one on the train. (Spaces Limited)
