Some of these are just dumb but some kind of interesting.

I like the one about why auctioneers talk that way. And I would add, do they really talk that way? I've never been to an auction. And how do they learn it?

The one about learning to play chess was pretty dumb.

I've not been to an auction in about 15 years. But they did talk that way. I suspect they learn it at an auction hagwan; just as you learn any other skill.

Re: Siamese twins

if it happened in a country with the death penalty.
would that country have a legal obligation to try and seperate the twins before the execution?

Actually, how can the other be 'completely innocent', if they chose not to prevent the murder from taking place. Murder can be a pre-meditated act which would be very difficult to hide from your Siamese twin; I'd argue that by not choosing to prevent the action, the other Siamese twin is equally implicated. (Note that I am saying they have chosen to let it slide, rather than passive inaction)

Seperating conjoined twins is life-threatening itself so it would put the life of the innocent twin at risk.

The conjoined twin who didn't commit the murder may not be completely innocent but legally speaking he wouldn't be as responsible as the one who did commit the murder so he shouldn't get as harsh of a sentence.
