Hey all! So I don't know if this has really been addressed anywhere but was wondering what people have done with their important documents, inherited things like jewelry, etc. when they leave for Korea (or to live anywhere abroad for that matter)? I've thought about a safe deposit box, but have been reading a lot of stories about theft and items going missing, and I'm not sure that I trust leaving this stuff at my parent's house either.

So, I'm curious...what did you do?

I have very little of real value. I kept the documents and jewelry in a plastic document box in my friend's attic. She knew it was "important" and should grab it in a flood or whatever, but no protection against fire or theft.

A small safe-deposit box shouldn't cost too much if your bank has them available. Of course, that requires you to at some point return to the same town after Korea.
