Anyone having trouble with their wifi on their school's wifi network?
My Iphone finds the network and can connect with a check mark. ALthough, when I try to use apps or the internet it times out like it's not working or something. Very frustrating. It's like it's there just not allowed to use it or something. I searched the internet but none of the solutions seem to work and are pretty complicated. Any ideas solutions would be greatly appreciated. Do i have to talk to the network guy? That probably wouldn't work due to language barrier and I have no idea who it is. Anyways. Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks in Advance. |

The WIFI will be protected so you will need the login details. Take it to the school tech guy, he should be able to do it. |

Maybe the school Wifi has a MAC filter. Makes sense if they don't want anyone to use the WIFI, even people who know the password.
Have the school IT guy at your school either:
1. Give you the security password if it is password protected.
or
2. If it has a MAC filter, have them add your Iphone's MAC address (you can see it in Settings, General, About under "Wi-Fi Address". |

Sometimes they ask you to install an ActiveX program which (in the case of our school) gives them the ability to do virtually anything they want to your computer. Sometimes a non-Windows OS won't work with that. |

There could be a million and a half reasons why the iPhone would indicate it was 'connected' without giving you an actual internet connection. Typically it has something to do with the authentication method their access points use.
Do you know what kind of security is on the network? Is it simply a WEP key or a WPA-PSK? If it's a larger school, it may be using some form of enterprise authentication requiring a specific username and password they provide you.
Other than that, it could also have a mac filter in place or require a static IP, which they would have to assign you. Regardless, this may be something you'll have to take to their tech guy as tough as that may be. |
