Hi guys,

I'm at an all boys high school with no curriculum so am heading up to Seoul next weekend to purchase a good ESL textbook to roughly base lessons on (I figure it would be silly to reinvent the wheel when a syllabus is usually built into the textbooks). Though I will supplement a lot, was wondering if anyone can suggest a multi-skilled textbook which they've found is received well by adolescents? My classes will vary in both age & ability so I am looking for something somewhat generic but with good culture points & not too dry.

Also, available resources are limited. In the classrooms there are no computers, tv screens or CD players for me to use (which would have been my first plan of attack for adding some spice to the lessons). Just wondering how others have got around this in the past? I don't want myself (or sts for that matter) to be doomed to chopped up black & white A4 paper every lesson. Heaven forbid!

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Cheers & have a good weekend.

I'll be very curious to see the answer to this myself, because so far I've only taught with terrible textbooks for adolescents.

I would say DON'T use Boost books. They are utter crap.

I would also recommend against the Duane Voorhees empire, by and large. If you see his picture on a book, don't get it. They're not the worst, but he's totally out of touch with what interests teenagers.
