Is it just me and my husband, or does the milk here taste and smell sour and gross? We've tried 4 different brands, and each one of them smells sour and tastes even worse. Is there a good brand of milk that you know of, that tastes similar to North American milk? Because I miss good milk.

I only buy soy milk here now after too many bad experiences of buying real fat-free milk. Although the date of expiration was always over a week away it smelled like it had already expired.

The milk here smells very strange. I'm used to 100% pure grass fed New Zealand milk, though. Which probably smells weird to Americans and others. Korean milk doesn't taste weird to me, but I only really drink it in coffee.

I know exactly what you mean OP. I can only drink two brands of milk here: Pasteur or Denmark milk. Both are similar to North American milk: light, crisp, with no strong sour taste or smell.

Smell yes..well..when I first got here. Now I don't mind the smell, but the taste has always been fine.

the smell/taste of most korean milk bothers me as well, so i've started buying a slightly more expensive (2,500 won/bottle) milk that comes in a clear bottle with red lettering on it and a red cap. it's still made by the seoul milk company but is better quality apparently. i forget the name, but here's a link to a very small pic of the bottle:

I don't like it either. Just tastes wrong to me. Now I only use it in my tea or to make hot chocolate. And I usually buy the individual cartons one at a time because it goes bad too quickly for me to ever use a large one.

At first I thought it was just because I was drinking from a carton, but no, must be the milk. Blegh.

If only there were a way to identify milk that has gone bad...a "date of expiration," if you will. Then people would know when to throw out old milk.

On second thought, it's a crazy idea. It will never happen.

Milk is just foul period. Only suitable for cooking and tea.

I actually like the Seoul milk, GT and Denmark milk quite well. Meil milk taste a bit weird to me. I think it has an after taste of corn, but I still drink it anyway. But I found the milk to taste horrible when I went to the US, so there might be some regional differences.
