I have an old friend on a two day stop staying in Seoul. i don't really go into Seoul in the winter and so I have no idea what to do.

I haven't seen the girl in at least 10 years, was thinking the old insadong type thing, but I don't know, unless there is more to it it's just a bunch of touristy stuff.

Any only got any ideas? she has been living in Europe and the states for the past 8 years so but never been to korea nor traveled asia much (other than Hong Kong). Don't really know what she likes (other than swing dancing)

cheers for your help

Check out the snow covered Changdeokgung then swing by Insadong and warm up in one of the traditional tea cafes. Maybe the flying bird one or one of the ones in the back of an antique shop? Take her to a decent Korean han jung sik place. She probably doesnt need overpriced Sinsa or Cheongdamdong European food.

Insadong is a good idea. How about Namsan Seoul Tower and a jjimjilbang? Garosugil http://discoveringkorea.com/2008/11/17/garosugil/
Walk around Dongdaemun or go find your seafood dinner at Noryangjin Market. I bet she's never seen all the species available there.
You could take her to a more traditional market too.
Perhaps some kind of Korean art or historical museum.
There's a light festival going on in Seoul now around Cheonggyecheon.
The palace idea is good too.
A Han River cruise might be nice.
Just present a bunch of ideas to her and let her choose.
And if you run into any problems you can always call 02-1330 -the Korean Tourist Information Center. They're wonderful.
Have fun and good luck.

Not sure the whole jjimjilbang would work as I'm a guy and she is a she Laughing

I'm thinking the old insadong might be the best idea.

I thought 02 1330 was only on from Monday to Friday

After a couple of years there doesn't really seem anything interesting in Seoul. I'm trying to remember what i found interesting when I first got here but nothing really blew me away. In summer there is plenty of hiking and stuff but winter...

Ssamziegil Workship located on B1. It's a craft studio designed to let everyone enjoy the experience of making their own personalized art. Six different design studios have come together to offer their expert instructions at a low cost: Cerawork, ceramics hand painting; Sudesign, mother of pearl and wood; Gongye Design, Korean paper-craft; Beads&clay, beads and clay; Hyang-youn, aroma candles and ribbon; and Yeson; natural soaps and leather.

You can go to a jjimjilbang with her. It's seperated by gender when you go into the water part and you have to be naked. But you guys could skip that entirely and head directly to the steam rooms where they'll give you a uniform of a t-shirt and shorts. You can be together in that part and I think jjimjilbangs are pretty unique to Korea.

Another idea -Lotte World and ice skating indoors.

I'm in a little late, but the Bukchon Hanok alleys are pretty cool, and conveniently located:
