|
|
I have a friend from the UK who is gonna head over soon, he would like to come here first then look for a job.
I know that the rules state your 1st E2 has to be issued in your home country, however can you interview at the consulate in London and then come here and get the visa in Japan?
Thnaks in advance, tried the search but to no avail! |

A good question that I'd also like to know the answer to as I'm expecting my visa issuance number any day now.
And before people get clever and say 'use the search engine', I've read several different versions of what you actually have to do as a first-time UK teacher to get your passport stamped.
Do you really need to trek all the way down to London? Or can you just do a telephone interview and post your passport? Do you need to send more sealed transcripts and apostilled documents? etc etc etc....... lol |

OP, I doubt that's possible unless they were to get their documents authenticated by the KCUE and then did a visa run from Korea (this process, I believe, can take up to a month). If he was going to come over and look for a job (probably ill-advised in the current job market over here and I believe it is illegal as well), he would either have to work illegally for the month whilst he waited on his documents being authenticated or fly back to London and go through the E2 visa process there. Without the documents being authenticated by the KCUE, he couldn't do a visa run for his first time. An embassy interview isn't usually necessary for British applicants. I've just come across and didn't have to do one. From what I can understand, they only usually have them if there is some question marks raised about your application.
Discostu333, below is exactly what I sent to the embassy in London. If you are not going to pick it up from the embassy, you will need to include a prepaid special delivery envelope (you will need to ask about the exact cost - they will only send your passport back) available from the post office to send it back to you. If you pick it up from the embassy, like I did, you will need to take photographic ID with you.
1. Number of Certificate for confirmation of visa issuance issued by the Ministry of Justice in Korea (Visa Issuance Number). You put this number on the front of the visa application form.
2. Passport
3. Completed visa application form with one photograph affixed (I've actually seen two photographs to be attached in some places so I sent two).
4. Visa Fee: UK - £28 (Payable to : the Korean Embassy either by cash or by postal order. (Cheques are not accepted).
5. Completed E2 Check list form.
As I said above, you probably won't have to do an interview. They may ask you to do one so do be prepared to go to London in the week that your passport is being processed.
Edited to add: if you have any problems or unsure about what you should send then do get in contact with the embassy. They were really helpful when I rang them up.

No problem. I forgot to say that if you do need to ring the embassy that there are specific times that the visa section is open. I think it's 2 - 4pm (?). |

documents authenticated by the KCUE |
So if you have previously had an E2 visa you can apply from abroad and don't have to go to the embassy in London? |
