Do you know where you're going to be living? There are quite a few used bookstores in Seoul that aren't all that expensive. Whatthebook, in Itaewon, is the most popular and has the best selection, and most of their used books are priced around W5,000. When you sell them back they usually go for about W1,000 or more. Seoul Selection near Gyeongbokgung is also a good one. Their books are cheaper, but they don't have near the selection that Whatthebook has.

I am not sure that books are much more expensive, if they are at all. I regularly go to the bookstore in COEX. You can see the dollar price on it and a sticker for won right over it. They don't inflate the price at all.

Ryan

Edit: I just looked at book a bought last weekend and apparently it has been 'bumped' up a few dollars. The price on the book is $16.95CAN and I paid 21,000 for it. Easily 3,000 won over a direct exchange.
