You won't be seeing Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man 4, Sony Pictures said Monday. Also out is Sam Raimi, who directed the first three films in the franchise. You'll also have to wait one year longer to see the film: It has been postponed until 2012. |
From the news I've gathered, the studio is being too stingy. It looks like Sony Pictures is just going to "reboot" the franchise for 2012. |

Spiderman 3 was so bad, so thrown together, maybe they should take a break and discover what made the first two, especially the 2nd one so good. |

yeah, perhaps a reboot is in order. #3 was so bad, even a big comic fan like me would be cautious about a 4th. |

The second one actually had subtle moments of real humour in it. I enjoyed it more than the first. The third was so bad I barely can recall it.
The revamped Spidey could be funnier and less geeky, get past the early days and show more wit. |

Without Sam Raimi, Does Sony "Get" Spider-Man?
Much has been made of the faults of "Spider-Man 3," but various reports indicate that the films followed the path of most blockbuster franchises with regard to the balance of control between director and studio. In fact, Raimi's made no secret of his belief that many of the third film's flaws resulted from his diminishing lack of creative control with each successive film. Now, with Raimi out of the picture and the studio in full control of the franchise, fans will likely found out soon whether Raimi really was the last, best defense against another "Spider-Man" movie with dance numbers and an overloaded roster of villains. |
So, the franchise is in the hands of the studio who pushed Raimi to do Spiderman 3 their way.
Marvel/Disney really needs to buy back that license. |

There's always Ironman, and there will even be an A-team movie coming out soon. |

I wonder if Michael Bay is available. He'd be great. |

They want the movie to focus on Peter Parker's high school life.

I don't know. I'm enjoying the Spectacular Spiderman animation... so a relaunch of the series might be just fine. |

All Marvel comics based movies need to be made by Marvel Studios. Enough of this Sony/Fox garbage. Spiderman jumped the shark HARD with 3. |

How come Sony owns Spiderman and not Marvel Studios? |

Doesn't Disney own Marvel now?
Just waiting for the next Disney movie with the X-Men, except they are toddlers and ultra cute.
like the Muppet Babies.
How about a cross-over Muppet babies and Mutant babies. The climax of the movie is the ultimate showdown between the muppet Animal, versus the baby mutant Beast. Who will take control of the drumset? |

Bring on Scorpion and Hammerhead! Love those bad guys. Swarm with CGI technology ought to be pretty cool too.

To get the younger demographic. Hey, it's working with teenage vampires and teenage werewolves in Twilight.
I wish they went the other way though, older, more confident Spidey. Tobey Maguire was about as insecure and hesitant as I could take. |

Marvel Studios is still fairly new. Marvel sold the movie rights to Sony long before Marvel Studios was probably anything more than a bulge in Stan Lee's... wait a minute |
