Does anyone have any information on it, other than rather neutral information I can find off the net?
Any experience working there? Acquaintances?
Rumors?
I'd sure like to know a lot more about the place before I lend it my fullest consideration, but I only have one friend in Korea right now, and he had never heard of the place. Couldn't even find it with the search feature here.
Thanks in advance,
~Ben |

Just to let you know... I think there's 174 universities in Korea according to a ranking I saw about a month ago.
Based on that, there's a lot of universities Koreans don't even know exist..... ... but they do. |

I'm aware of this; I have found Soonchunhyang ranked 61st out of the 174 at http://www.4icu.org/kr/
But I was hoping that, with the accumulated knowledge of all these old-hands on this board, someone would know something, or know someone who did know something. Rankings are nebulous and arbitrary, I'm really looking for someone's first-hand experience. |

| I got an offer from them a couple years ago. Turned it down because the pay and hours couldn't compare to my current job. Just know that it's in Asan, kind of a dumpy place. |

And rankings based purely on internet popularity are probably the most arbitrary... |

Thosed rankings ar based on public school teachers who work for SCHU, but don't work at SCHU. |

As a previous poster pointed out, that particular site's ranking is based solely on the number of clicks on each university's website, and not on reputation, quality of education, nor level of services provided. Could you get a weaker criteria for rating universities? Terrible.
Case and point: Forget Harvard, Yale, Oxford; the Universidad Nacional Autnoma de Mxico is the second-highest ranked university in the world. Wow, who'd of thunk. Must be a great website. |

They have a hospital on the Hannam side of Hannam bridge. So maybe they have a Seoul campus too? I dunno. |

I didn't work here, but I did do the English Village there many many moons ago.
It is in the middle of eastkebumfuck. Not much going on out there - but if that is your thing....
I heard from English teachers that have worked there that people tend to get dumped by the Uni when the time rolls around to give people raises. |

It is a decent place for a medical uni and only a medical uni. They have four hospitals, 2 in Seoul, one in cheon-an and the last in Gumi. It's not the best place to work, but it's not the worst.
Like every other uni there are a-holes in positions of ower who think they have a say, but they don't. It is in the middle of nowhere, but that could be seen as a +. If you need foreign food and english 24/7 why are you applying anywhere outside of Seoul? |
