So I signed a contract recently but have since found adverts placed by the school (they still need a few more teachers) offering more money.
Its not a great deal more but when I signed I was reluctant to do so for the amount as I genuinely feel I and the hours they're wanting me to work are worth at least a tad more. But after hearing a load of BS from my recruiter about how they couldnt pay me more because of what they were paying other people already there I just caved. Weak, i know!
Anyway my question is do you think I can go and politely ask them to pay me what they're advertising? Or at least increase me slightly.
We're only talking about a maximum increase of 200,000 a month(not a lot but it'd pay my apartment bills and phone) but its more the principal of the matter. It's irritating me. And im a little worried it might lead me to feel resentful later on. What would you do? |

| You can politely ask but I don't think you're going to get the increase. In the end you have to accept that you signed a contract at the rate you signed for. You can't look at it as being unfair or wrong because in the end you signed a deal in which the financial numbers were clearly stated. |

| You signed on the dotted line. Deal with it. Or be an ass and pull a runner. |

You have to decide how important it is to you. You can ask but may or may not receive.
If you are unwilling to do the job, let them know now. But making an ultimatium will most likely sour the working relationship right from the beginning. |

| So you were satisfied with the contract enough to sign it, but now that you hear someone else has something better, it is no longer good enough? Stop comparing yourself to others and work for the contract you agreed to. |

well, it never hurts to ask (politely)
but you did sign that contract
it's also not a practice we want from our employer ~
can you imagine if
they signed a contract with you, and later they sign another contract with a different teacher for less ... would you be ok if they came back to you and asked you for less since they just signed another teacher for less money
and heed Nexus' advise: dont compare yourself with others ... nothing good ever comes out of that
look at it this way, if all is the same, the teacher with the higher contract is a bigger target |
