|
|
Hi all,
I will be moving to South Korea, more specifically in the Gyeongbuk province come end of Feb and wondered where is the best place to buy good quality protein powder shakes? I want to continue having a healthy lifestyle with a good diet and exercise routine so figured I might as well start researching now.
Ive never been to SK and know nothing about what is available and whats not. I know there is no cheese so probably no cottage cheese and fat free high protein yoghurt!!! Do they at least have plain porridge oats?
Also what is the water system like over there? is it safe?

You can buy protein powder at GNC and also through www.gmarket.co.kr Who have you been talking to?? You can buy cheese, cottage cheese and yogurt here too. It's more expensive for the high quality stuff but it is available. You can find Quaker Oats online at gmarket too.
You shouldn't drink the tap water here unless you boil it first. |

GMarket is probably going to be your best source. I was desperate when I got here and almost paid 90K for a little 2.2kg container at GNC. If you're like me and use a lot, you can get 18kg Chocolate Whey protein by Optimum Nutrtion for 88K. It is harder and more expensive to eat low fat and high protein here, but it s possible. If you are in a smaller town it takes a little more effort. Your biggest challenge at first will be getting your diet in check and findng out what is available and where you can get it. The hardest thing for me is zero calorie drinks. I can't stand to drink plain water, and I haven't found anything like Crystal Light yet. Now I'm drinkng way too much Coke Zero! It's little things like this that give you problems. Your apartment might have a water purifier for you already. Mine did, but I don't know if that is common. If not, I know you can get home delivery of the big jugs of water so you aren't constantly having to lug water home (I'm sure you can think of bettr ways to burn some calories ) Get set up on Gmarket and it will make your life easier.
Good Luck http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=102999279 |

I got the guys at my gym to order me a 10lb bag of gold standard whey protein for 95k won. I'd find a gym and talk to them. They just ordered right from a web site, although I can't remember which one.
Costco has plenty of cheese and yogurt. |

| One of the trainers at my gym recommends the Optimum whey as well. |
