What books are used in PS middle schools, and how is the day usually ran?

How many extra activities are teachers usually expected to come up with, and what supplies are usually given to do them?

and what are some ways to get your coteacher on your side? I have my own experiences with a nasty one, but want to make sure I hit the ground running and have a good year.

Rory,

I think you will find lots of info on M.S. in the M.S. Guidebook for Foreign Teachers that I helped put together. Download at that link. Lots of info. / lesson plans etc...

There are about 20+ textbooks for M.S. out there - so depends.

Cheers,

DD

Rory,
Go to http://sites.google.com/site/multifactoreslenglish
Plenty of material to print and hand out or bring up on the screen.
Regards,
David Vance.

Connect your material to their lives.

What are Korean 14-15 year olds into? Whatever it is, include it in your examples, models, dialogs, grammar drills, exploration activities etc.

Showing that you know a bit about them and show some interest will be ace for your classroom management.

So true Mint. If in SMOE, they should be in each school though you know how that goes....I just finished a license training course for Korean teachers and when asking one class about these, most hadn't a clue! I was dismayed to say the least.

There are handbooks for H.S. and Elementary also. I provided a lot of the content and one of a few things I'm happy to leave SMOE with... Further, find here some other handy books/materials for new/newer teachers in Korea.
