Thinking about going there to get away for awhile.....Can anyone verify how awful the pollution is? |

When I was there I was amazed at how clean it was. Make sure you take some money and get a nice place to stay.
Have fun |

It really depends on where you go in HK - Central and the Island, as well as the more industrially concentrated area are polluted, but otherwise it's not bad. |

It is noticable, but I didn't see a lot of garbage on the streets. People have at least some respect for their city. |

I was in HK 3 weeks ago. Less trash, cleaner air. We spent a good deal of time in the Stanley area too.
The city was however littered with great restaurants and more civilized behavior. |

I've been to HK 3 times and it's cleaner than Korea. The biggest issue for me is being hounded by the suit makers in TST. The smells can be a bit overwhelming as well. |

As others have said, cleaner than Seoul. I also found it to be cleaner than some American cities. |

The Ramada hotel in the western districts has a good deal for a place to stay. Only 450 hk dollars per night for 4 star. Just takes 10 minutes by tram from central. |

My family's from HK (and I'm actually going back there next month for the first time since 1995)... my mom and dad were there around the SARS epidemic and told me that the city really cleaned itself up during that time, mostly due to the fear of SARS spreading partially through dirty streets. |
