I don't know Korean and there's a product I really need to buy, a simple adaptor that amazon won't ship and I can't find anywhere in Busan electronics stores:
http://gen.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=119776369&pos_shop_cd=SH&pos_class_cd=111111111&pos_class_kind=T&search_keyword=2%20rca%20female%201%203.5%20male
That's the product. How do I navigate and a.) make an account and b.) purchase this product and have it sent to me? Thanks for your help and sorry if my question is stupid. I plan to buy a lot from gmarket and I want to know how to use it.
If worse came to worse I could ask a korean to help me but I don't know many...
Other alternative: Anyone in Busan know of good electronics stores that would sell this kind of adaptor? I've looked at a few but they didn't have any variety or any adaptors like this. I heard about an electronics market but I don't know where it is. |

I tried ordering off of gmarket once, but had no luck. In Korea, it seems, that you have to validate your credit card - didn't really understand the process. Anyway, every single Korean person you know, work with, or will ever meet has a gmarket account. Just grab your Korean buddy or boss or coteacher or whatever and ask them to order it for you. |

It's not that difficult to open an account at gmarket now that they've done away with the real name verfication thing. I opened one about 6 months ago after my divorce.. piece of cake..
And to the previous poster= no you don't need a credit card to buy things here. You can pay for things in numerous different ways: credit card, bank transfer, instant pay and using your mobile phone - but I think it has to be a billing one, and not a pre-paid one.. |

It really is quite easy. Don't try to pay using credit card, just pay from an atm
here is the start of the registration process
http://english.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_member/fmember_registration.asp
just fill in the blanks. When it comes to paying select pay to my gmarket account. Go down to the atm and pay to the account number they give you (name of the account should be G followed by your name). I have bought a lot from gmarket bed, tv, 5,700 per kg chicken breasts, vacuum cleaner, oven, weights. |

depends on the seller, I got a weight bench the following day. My bed took three days, chicken breast take 1-2 days, my tv took 5 days. Normally between 1-3 days |

Thanks for the tips everyone... I hadn't gotten the English version to work until the second poster sent me that link and then I felt stupid... thanks tho!
Anyway, I tried ordering something with a credit card (before I saw your warnings) and they verified my order.... then cancelled it. Why is that?
And as for the ATM: can I do this at any ATM? Is it the best way for a foreigner?
Lastly, I don't have my ARC yet, but once I have a Korean bank account, can I use my Korean account much more easily without problem?
Thanks everyone. |

No.
I don't think gmarket is designed to be explained. It is the biggest mess I have ever seen. Trial and error of clicking here and there seem to be the only way to learn how to use it. Gmarket is designed by imbeciles.
As to signing up, it sounds like it has changed since I did it. The only way I was able to sign up was to have a Korean help me do it on the Korean language side. Once you sign up, pay via ATM. Gmarket will give you a dedicated account number to send money to. It will stay the same from order to order, so write it down.
Oh, one word of advice: They will ask you to sign up and set two different passwords. Don't do it, if you can avoid it. Stick to one password. If you go the two password route they will make you enter both password just to view your wish list, for example. Hypersecurity for your wish list? Are they nuts? This is pure BS that has nothing to do with security. If you don't give them a credit card number, and simply pay with your ATM, you don't need this nonsense. |

You don't need an ARC for a bank account a passport is enough. If they turn you down walk 10 meters to the next bank because you don't want to deal with them anyway |
