Marc Hall AKA Watercus, made a rap song to express his anger at being sent back to Iraq after already serving a 14 month tour. The army used a practice called stop-loss to redeploy him. Now he sits in a Georgia jail for misconduct.

You can hear the whole song here:

Hmm? I don't know what to make of this. Jail? I think maybe they should have fined him. I don't think you're a criminal if you express your opinion.

But maybe he deserved something because I think as a soldier, when you sign a contract with the military, you pledge loyalty.

I don't know. What are your opinions?

Quote:
Army soldier specialist Marc Hall based at Fort Stewart, Georgia has been jailed after being accused of threatening his fellow soldiers in a rap song!

Iraq war veteran Marc Hall has been in custody since December for allegedly writing a rap song against the Armys controversial stop loss policy and mailing it to the Pentagon. The stop loss policy makes it legal for the army to extend a soldiers deployment or service beyond their designated time in the military. Hall posted the song on the Internet and in the lyrics he threatened to kill Colonels, Captains, Kernels, E-7s and above, using his M4 assault rifle if he was sent off for another tour in Iraq.

Army officials have charged Hall for conduct prejudicial to the good order, discipline of the Armed Forces, and threatening violence on multiple occasions.

Marc Halls lawyer says lyrics should not be taken literally.

According to this article from hiphoprx.com he specifically threatened to kill certain people.

No one forced hime to join the military, he was not drafted, he signed up. Having said that, he knew what he was getting...now he does not like it, does not care for the lifestyle, etc...he needs to suck it up and be a man until his enlistment is up...but making a song as he did....is only going to get himeself into trouble...

The military doesn't take kindly to insubordination. Guess they have to make an example out of him...

Yeah, but I know of no other job that hires you and won't let you quit.

Plus, I imagine, no one really knows what their really in for when they join the military. A lot of soldiers come back screwed up mentally because of the insanity they see.

Given the pressures that the soldiers are under, you'd think that if the gov really cared about them, there'd be an opt out clause at the end of their first term of duty.

I think the guy was just letting out steam.

As much as I sympathize with the message of his song, he crossed the line by using lyrics that constitute a direct threat to the mlitary, and by extension the federal government; stupid anyway you dice it, but especially in these times.

Many people join the military because they feel like they have no choice. Many people are enlisting (or re-enlisting) because they can't afford health insurance, for example.

Major Nidal Hassan. Fort Hood.

In that event's aftermath, did not many subject the military to a great deal of heat about not reading the signs and intervening before he went on his rampage?

Now we have the other side of the coin and people will be subjecting the military to another round of heat about civil liberties (which do not exist within the military justice system exactly as they do in the civilians' law).

Damned if they do and damned if they do not, huh...?
