|
|
I was just told that I have to pay 70.000 towards Korean taxes because there's no proof of me actually spending money in Korea (because I have no credit card). I'm already paying half the taxes that comes (normally) with all the contracts.
Has anyone heard of this?
Wouldn't pay stubs of bills or maybe my checking account statement work?
I'm having trouble because the person at my school speaks no English and my co-teacher is having trouble discussing everything in English. |

Why do you have to have proof you spent money?
That's the first I heard. |

Wow, thanks for the link. So the only way (for my situation) not to pay the 70.000 is to have these cash receipts? Pay stubs for bills with my name on them won't count? |

I'm just sort of surprised because I've never heard of this when doing all the research for living/teaching in Korea before coming here. |

Too late for that now. You need to get one of those cash receipt cards and/or register your cell number to record your cash purchases for 2010. A cheque card or credit card also registers your purchases, too.
Your medical expense for the year and supplemental insurance (ie. car, motorcycle) are also deductible.
yesone.go.kr is the site where you can download the deductions that the government has compiled for you.....if they're showing zero and you know you have expenses for them, you have to call the organizational office (ie, NHIC, Insurance company) to get them to mail your yearly summary to submit. It's all in korean and you need a public internet banking certificate to acces your info. |

One more Q Oculis:
You say that my check card registers purchases too. What is the best way to get this information for my school?
Do I need to send it to the government tax office or give a check card statement(or similar document) to my school? |
