I just tried to upload a video to Youtube and it won't let me because of anti-anonymous laws.
I get this message.
본인확인제로 인해 한국 국가 설정시 동영상/댓글 업로드 기능을 자발적으로 비활성화합니다.
We have voluntarily disabled this functionality on kr.youtube.com because of the Korean real-name verification law.
I'm in Korea. But I've had that account since well before I came here. And I've uploaded stuff with it before (while outside Korea). And my location isn't listed as Korea (it's listed as the USA, with a US zip code too).
I've heard other people recommend changing the country of my Google account to something other than Korea. But it's already listed as the USA. It always has been. In Youtube, GMail, and Google account.
How do other people here upload videos? |

And just 5 minutes after posting my question here on Dave's, one of my Korean colleagues showed me what to do.
In case there's anyone else out there who has the same problem. This is what to do:
Scroll to the bottom of the Youtube page. There you'll see "Current location" and "Current language". Click on show locations. Then click on something other than "Korea".
I thought it was something to do with my profile settings and didn't notice the fine print (it really is a small font) at the bottom of the page.
Do that and then you can upload videos like normal. |

Do not choose your default country Korea.
Change your profile . Choose US. |

It's not caused by your profile. My profile was never "Korea", and changing it to anything (including US) didn't solve the problem.
To solve the problem, you have to scroll down to the bottom of the main YouTube page and look in the bottom left corner. It's there in small print. THERE you have to choose your current location (anywhere other than Korea). |
