Hi.
I am from the UK, and have my Visa Issuance number. I now need to complete the final stages for gaining my Visa. I rang the Korean Consulate and they led me to this site:
http://gbr.mofat.go.kr/eng/eu/gbr/visiting/entry/index.jsp
(Note, this is not the site that a google search finds for you... seems there is a common problem there, also, if it is not translated for you, you can do that with a button in the top right hand corner)
Scrolling down to the E-2 Visa section, there is a link for a check list. For me, it is broke. Appearing only as some kinda computer code. Could someone please clear up for me what I have to now do, and what, perhaps, this check list should contain?
Once I submit the required documents by post (including a return addressed envelope) will I receive my Passport with the stamped Visa? Is there still a need for an interview?
Thanks in advance for any help. Chris. |

try the US one. I'm sure the requirements are similar. As for the interview, depends if you're with EPIK or not
If you can avoid it, I would NOT have them post you your passport, might get "lost in the mail" Pick it up in person. |

Hi Chris,
The embassy website is rubbish and rarely works. I spent hours on it one day trying to get the visa application forms. You need to send the following to the embassy:
1. Number of Certificate for confirmation of visa issuance issued by the Ministry of Justice in Korea (Visa Issuance Number) written on the visa form.
2. Passport
3. Completed visa application form with one photograph affixed (I've seen two photos written elsewhere so best to include two).
4. Visa Fee: UK - £28 (Payable to : the Korean Embassy either by cash or by postal order. (Cheques are not accepted).
5. Completed E2 visa checklist.
You can find both the visa application form and the visa checklist form here:
http://www.teachkoreans.com/Theprocess.html
That was what I sent three months+ ago. Ring up the embassy to double check that as things can change. The visa section is only open during certain times in the day.
If you want your passport to be returned to you, include a pre-paid special delivery envelope in your application. If not, you need to go to the embassy after 5 days with some i.d. I did the latter. I was in and out in less than a couple of minutes.
As for interview, I believe it's rather unusual for Brits to have an interview. I certainly didn't, but do factor the possibility of an interview in to your plans. |

Thank you very much both of you for your reply!
Thank you for clearing things up. That site was useful but unfortunately the link for the Consulate's checklist was not there either. I did some running around and found that the site:
http://www.koreainsider.com/korea-visa/korea-visa/
has all the visa information from start to finish, along with the links to documents you need... the checklist can be found here:
http://www.koreainsider.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/korea-E2-visa-consulate-checklist.pdf
(for reasons known only to computers, the English text only prints when you open it in a new window...)
Il send all these documents off now, and thanks again for the help!
Seems you saved yourself 4 too as the fee is now 32! |
