Man, 33, who posed as schoolboy, arrested for indecent behavior

Thursday 14th January, 09:32 AM JST

YOKOHAMA

A 33-year-old man was arrested under Child Welfare Laws on Wednesday, for allegedly engaging in indecent behavior with a 16-year-old girl he had live with him in his Yokohama City home for two months last year.

Police said Toshinori Sato, an unemployed resident of Seya Ward, wore a blazer, white shirt, combed his fringe forward and carried a school bag in his guise of a high school student before calling out to the girl in July 2008. Sato told the girl that they were in the same grade at elementary school, and waited for her to walk home to talk to her repeatedly over several weeks, before starting a relationship with her.

Police said the girl dropped out of high school and ran away from home a year later, and that Sato had her stay at his home, along with his mother and older brother. Sato instructed the girl not to talk to his family, and told them she was a 26-year-old co-worker. She lived at the home from July to September last year, during which time Sato is accused of engaging in indecent behavior with her.

Police said Sato told the girl hed commit suicide if she left, but in September, Satos brother told her to go home, and also told her his brother was 33 years old, not 16. The girl told police that she thought Sato was 16 but looked a bit old for his age. Sato told police that the girl looked like shed be easy to fool.

I'd let him off 1. For making that much of an effort

and 2. Actually fooling people with it!

Wow! I guess it was an easy escape for whatever problem she may have had at home, if she had any problems.

If the age of consent in Japan is 16, he's golden.

He really knows how to spot the ones who are unaware of what old people look like. No one except this Japanese man usually looks at a person and thinks I know she knows nothing about what old people look like.

Proof that it's not just us--Asians can't tell each others' ages either!

This isn't the first case of this happening. I remember watching a movie called "Concrete" or something. It was about a group of high school buys who kidnapped a high school girl, held her captive in one of the boys homes. They raped, tortured, and beat her badly. When she died they put her in a barrel with concrete.

The movie was based an a "true" story.

Japan has a lot of underlying social issues. Very serous social issues. It is a huge problem that isn't addressed. You can spot evidence here and there. In Anime, they often talk about "NEETs" and Hikkomori's. Just recently in an Episode of Heroes, they had a Japanese guy going to jump off a rooftop because he had been fired and was a disgrace to the family.
The social problems show up in media/entertainment.

In my opinion, Japan is the epitome of "Beauty is only skin deep" proverb. Japan will experience a massive revolution on a cultural scale within the coming decade. You have a tremendous disconnect between generations. Mark my words, its coming.

It looks like he's an excellent judge of character if nothing else.

Not to be picky but that seems totally different to what happened in this story
