I'm thinking of buying a couple of things from g-market, but I have no experience.
Can you guys fill me in on this.. like how fast do they deliver and are the cheap prices worth it, or is the quality good and whatnot?
so yeah.. |

I have, the prices are worth it depending on what you order. Just think of it exactly as you would eBay or another auction site. Sometimes you win, sometimes a crummy item is just really photogenic.
So far I have been pleased with every single item I've gotten from gmarket and they came quick. I would STRONGLY recommend using the site in Korean and not the English version, and also inputting your address in Korean. Had some delivery people get weirded out by an address written in English. |

I bought a scarf for 10,000 won. My co-teacher an account, so she bought it for me at her discount price. It was delivered to school in two days. |

I've bought clothes for a friend and I a few times and have been pleased.
It depends what you are after though... if you are looking for high quality products then you're probably in the wrong place, but if you want something fashionable and cheap that will probably see you through until you next head home then it's good.
At the bottom of most sites there are model stats, which are worth looking at. If a sweater looks massive, it may because the model weighs less than 110 pounds (50kg).
I agree with the other poster- put your address in in Korean. My delivery took three days, but that was in the middle of the snow. Anything else I have ordered off there has taken one or two days max.
Hope this helps! |

Don't buy clothes on Gmarket. I bought some pants which I thought were gray buy they turned out to be metallic and shiny. Also bought a tshirt which turned out to have glitter all over it...
Just be prepared to be dazzled! |

I've bought tons of things: pants, shirts, shoes, cat litter, midi keyboard, dried persimmons, etc. You do have to be careful about the colors. And don't buy anything that doesn't have a size measurement listed.
Like other people mentioned, they deliver pretty quickly. In my experience it's usually within 2 days. I've had an occasion or two where I had to ask the seller when my items would arrive (after +10 business days) and then they express mailed them the next day.
I'm not a big fan of haggling over prices, so I dig it. |

I buy everything on G-Market. Hair supplies, clothes, makeup, electronics, lol.
Shipping is extremely fast. I'll order stuff and 2 days later it will be at my school (sometimes even that next day). But I do live extremely close to Seoul, so that might factor into it.
My address is in Korean, BTW...I actually use my school's address because a lot of delivery people won't deliver to your home after 5pm...so since I'm in school until 4:40, I am never home.
Good luck! |

hmm 2-3 days is pretty fast.
I live in a dormitory in bucheon inside a campus and I can't seem to think of anywhere else as a delivery address for my stuff other than that. The whole day I'll probably be in class... can somebody receive the package other than myself?
I've observed that a lot of the clothes or probably most of them are in free sizes and taking into consideration that they're tailored for koreans... I'm not so sure about that coz I'm mad short...
but what I'm also curious about are the shoe sizes. the measurements are in 230, 240, 250... what do these mean? are they in inches, cm?
thanks |

I've bought tons of stuff on gmarket - from appliances, to furniture, to groceries even!
I would suggest that if you buy clothes on gmarket, you buy low-risk items, or you go to HomePlus and try on clothes first so you know exactly how they will fit. I bought boots on gmarket this winter and they fit but were a little tight as my feet are wider than what is apparently normal.
The boots took the longest - probably 4 days. Everything else I order on gmarket gets to my place a day or two after I order it.
Usually, if I am not at home, our apartment's security guard holds the boxes for me when they are delivered. If there's a building manager who has an office you could have them pick up your stuff for you; if you have to mail something super important that you don't want to get lost you could just ask a friend you trust if you can mail your stuff to their place. |
