There are lots of nice, clean motels around the bus station area in Gohyeon. Can't remember the names, but take a look around.
Turn right out of the station, then turn right again when you see the LG corner shop (20 metres), walk down this road until you reach the traffic lights.
Here, you reach the main street. Turn left. You will see A LOT OF signs for motels down this street. Look up left and right as most are situated down side streets.
Most cost between 30 and 40,000 won a night. |

Why anyone would spend much time in Gohyeon is beyond me. The city is like any other, except for the Korean War P.O.W. Camp which is worth a visit on your way through.
Go to smaller oceanside communities right away. At the very least Okpo or Jangsengpo has some charm.
I recommend even smaller places down the east coast you can reach via the island highway like Wahyeon or Hokdong. That way you can at least wake up and take a stroll along the beach. And they are much closer to the beautiful areas you could reach relatively quickly.
Are you driving to Geoje? If you are taking the bus then simply grab a local bus from Gohyeon and get off where your eyes tell you to. It's not like the hotels will be full at this time of year!
I'd show you around but I'm heading up to Sokcho this weekend. Have fun! Just don't expect anything other than the P.O.W. Camp in Gohyeon. You really have to avoid that city i.m.o. to experience the island. |

Yeah...driving over there and will probably stay on the east coast, down near Oedo(Paradise) Island so looking foward to it.
Howvere, might not be going yet as a huge domestic situation has come up. |
