Instant Poll: 90% of Republicans Who Did Not See Obamas Speech Disagree With It

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) President Barack Obamas State of the Union address has already gotten a big thumbs-down from one key group of voters: Republicans who did not see the speech.

According to an instant poll conducted by the University of Minnesotas Opinion Research Institute, 90 percent of Republicans who did not see the Presidents speech strongly disagreed with it.

Additionally, 95 percent of Republicans polled agreed with the statement, If I had seen the Presidents speech, Ill bet I would have hated it even more.

Davis Logsdon, who supervised the poll, said there were certain difficulties in polling Republican voters: Many of them would not let us finish asking the question before answering No.

I read recently that Obama is the most polarizing president in recent history, with Bill Clinton having been the previous title holder. I'm beginning to think that says far more about conservatives and liberals and their attitudes than the presidents in question.

I'm taking the idea presented about conservative behavior seriously, which is why my own commentary addresses the idea in another context. Pkang's response to the recent fiscal responsibility law is a good example. It's obviously good legislation, it's obviously something anyone who is concerned with the deficit should support, but because Democrats passed it, he's against it. The same goes for the health care bill that many conservatives opposes with no information, and a number of other things.

Conservatives are far harder on liberals than liberals are on conservatives. That's an idea worth discussing. It's also something liberal politicians need to learn to accept if they ever want to get anywhere.
