I've heard a lot of people talk about this on the forums in recent weeks.

Does anyone have anything in black-and-white they want to post? Anything they've actually heard from their co-teachers in SMOE? Will we really have to teach 20 classes with the same co-teacher or the same two co-teachers? (By the same two, I mean one for the 1st grade and one for 2nd grade; be it middle school or high school). Any forced overtime, as well?

Thanks.

I'm actually doing that right now (1 co-teacher for each grade I teach) for 20 classes per week. IMHO, I like this more because you don't have to meet up with 8 different teachers and teaching the same lesson with the same grade only makes more sense.

every school has a different system. some native teachers teach with the homeroom teacher, so they have about 16+ different coteachers. many of us have 1 or 2 or 1 for each grade.
according to your contract, they can force you to work more than 22 hours, but they MUST pay you overtime.

if you're starting in march, chances are your school hasn't even finalised who's teaching what for the new year. just as you find out your school at orientation last minute, teachers find out their assignments somewhat last minute as well. it's not a great idea, but bureaucratically, it cuts down on complaints and requests to transfer....

Actually, I'm in the middle of the contract...

This is great news if I don't have to teach with my head co-teacher, but if I have to share 10 (or 20!) classes with her, it's splitsville.
