This is about politics and mobsters in Rhode Island. It ran only 2 seasons but had a complete story. It went under a lot of peoples radar. I think you are thinking of Band of Brothers.

'community', 'parks and recreations' and 'dexter' are all great right now

I've been watching father ted again out of nostalgia.
Does anybody else watch 'Iris'? I got a torrent for the first couple of episodes but i can't find subtitles ...

Mad men and The Wire are gaping omissions from your repertoire.

Band of Brothers is one of the greatest things committed to film.

The Shield is OK if you don't mind suspending disbelief for 42 minutes at a time.

Be sure to check out the the John Adams biopic with Paul Giamatti.

Black Books. The first season is pure gold. It drops off after that but is still good.

The Mighty Boosh for off the wall British humor. Little Britain is good too.

I'm watching Frasier right now. You could do worse for traditional comedies.

Flight of the Conchords, Curb Your Enthusiasm and East Bound & Down are essential 00s comedy.

You could do a lot worse than just work your way through this list.

I probably wouldn't do anything until you have seen The Wire. It's probably the best TV show ever. And that isn't an exaggeration. Omar Little ranks with Hamlet and Don Quixote for great characters in literature.

Oh yeah. Arrested Development is probably as important as The Wire.
