I have an American PS3 here in Korea. I use KT for internet service. I just have a ethernet cable from the wall. No router or modem is used with this service. I attached the cable to the back of my PS3 and I can't get a connection to the playstation network. When I run the connection settings it can obtain an IP address but fails at connecting to the internet. I've tried a million different ways. Has anyone had this problem and found a way to solve it? I can't think of anything else to do here. |

I took a look online, and it seems you will need a router unless your computer happens to have two network cards, then there are instructions to make your computer act as a router.
My opinion is to get a router. Even though the one I bought was korean, with no english instructions, I managed to get it working by using http://translate.google.com. I just copy and pasted and after a little trial and error i got it working. |

I can vouch that a router will probably do the trick as already mentioned. I had the same problem with my Xbox 360 and my router had given up he ghost so I figured I'd just plug the connection in direct. Wrong! It kept giving a connection error, though the test of getting the ip, etc. went through. I took it to my buddy's house who does have a router and it worked just fine. So there, go figure. If you want a router with English option, then your best bet is D link which you can order online, gmarket for example. the Dlink Dir 615 is like $45 and you can download the English for it from their U.S. site.
Good luck.............. |
