I'm wondering what the likelihood is of me actually getting placed with GEPIK for the March start date.
To make a long story short, I had all of my documents sent to my recruiter prior to the "first round" of hiring/placements.
Apparently GEPIK didn't do the hiring in "rounds" like it had been explained to me, and postponed their placements until this past weekend and the early part of this week.
Apparently there are over 400 applicants for roughly 170 positions. My recruiter told me today that 35 have already been placed, and she doesn't know when mine will take place.
She feels that since I had my documents in early and have the 100 hour TESOL certification, I should be placed.
I'm curious to see what anyone that has had experience in the past with GEPIK, or have been placed in the last few days by GEPIK can give me any insight.
I'm very anxious and annoyed because I had it in my mind since early December that I would be working for GEPIK in March.
I just remembed something else that I found a little strange. I have not had an interview with GEPIK. I've emailed my recruiter on a number of occasions regarding this point. She said that GEPIK might do some spot interviews, but otherwise takes the word of the recruiter. Step three of the recruitment process on this particular recruiter's website has to do with interviewing with your employer and discussing details.
If you can shed some light on this point too, I'd appreciate it. Thanks for all your help! |

Like I posted in another topic, they really prefer experienced and certified teachers first, then fill in the blanks with the newbies. There were 500 apps for 180 head office positions, I actually received one of them, but declined it for an SMOE job. You should cover your options by contacting all 25? recruiters under GEPIK, but if you get a bunch of job offers, be sure to keep them separated.
Here's the list to help out:

there will be 2300 independents schools, and they have to use these recruiters. I really recommend ESL Planet, Rowan is the most down to earth and straight forward recruiter I've ever met (he nailed me that GEPIK job). It was too bad I couldn't work with him cause he didn't have any SMOE positions for me. Get crackin' on doing those online app's, they're a beotch, good luck! |

Everyone's a little on edge about GEPIK, and from it looks like, no one has received any word but "be patient" from their recruiters. Some were promised they'd know about placement last week, some (like me) were promised they would know today. No one has any idea what to expect this year. |
