I have just received my salaray and I have paid 4 times what I usually pay. I heard these are the new rules and foreigners will have to pay much more tax from now on.

Can anyone shed some more light on this?

Thanks.

I heard something about this. There is another thread about it. Don't know where it is though. Anyways, I received my february pay and it was the same as normal. I am Canadian. I don't know if that matters.

sounds fishy.....are you a newbie? Taxes are low for foreigners. That does not change overnight. Sounds like you got robbed by your boss. But I might be wrong, if the previous poster can explain.

I would still say that paying 4x what you normally do means someone is robbing you.

This could just be a one time adjustment seeing as it's end of the year and they may not have been paying enough before this.

Go to the Korean Tax Service and check.

http://www.nts.go.kr/

Look for the English link and then the tax advocate.
