I've got 2 512mb sticks of 2rx16 pc2 5300s that I don't need.

You should find that RAM of a higher speed than supported by your notebook will actually work......but not at the higher speed. Only at the speed your notebook supports.

PC2700 is pretty hard to find and might even be more expensive than faster RAM. Go with PC2-5300....

My apologies. You're right. DDR can't be replaced by DDR2

Wow....you have a computer that uses DDR?

I assumed your laptop was DDR2 as very few computers out there from the DDR period are still alive.
