| Is it possible to open a bank account without an ARC and just with my visa confirmation number? I'm going to Japan probably next week, but am having issues with my school in getting any money since I don't have a bank account open (after I left the last time, I thought I wouldn't be back, so I closed my account). Also, if the above situation is possible..which bank? I had KEB before, but I don't mind switching. Thanks! |

| I got my bank account at the Woori-bank before I got my ARC. However! It did make a lot of extra trouble. Because I didn't have an ARC I got a different kind of account which doesn't allow automatic billing and so on. The first couple of times I tried to change it into a regular bank account they kept on messing it up, but now I think it's working as it should be. |

you should be able to open an account with just your passport.
I did it at KB years ago.
Also: if you *had* a KEB account, why not rejoin them? did you not like the service? |
