I do not like the working environment at my present school. I would like to start searching for new job positions. Do I have to fly to Japan or back to the U.S. to obtain a new visa or is it true that if you have been here for six months, your current visa can be transferred over to your new position? |

You will have to leave country, but you have to get a letter of release from your employer. If your employer is really nice they might transfer the visa but much more likely you will just need a new visa. Going to Japan is the easiest way, and try to get your new employer to pay for it, since they won't pay for your flight. |

a letter of release is only necessary if you are going to transfer to a new employer and you dont need to leave korea to do it.
leaving korea and reapplying for a new visa does not require an LOR. |
