I was teaching part of a count/non-count lesson, using the words "some" and "any".

One student was having problems saying "I have some sunscreen". Making the "m" sound in "some" and "n" in sun was too difficult. So, we practiced closing our lips for "m" and opening them for "n". Everything went smoothly.

Then,"shampoo" came up. Same problem, they couldn't say "some" + "sham" in sequence.

So, one kid blurted out, "I HAVE SOME POO!!!" Laughing Laughing, we couldn't continue the lesson after that. Well, for the exception of a couple students who had no clue why the rest were in hysterics including the teacher.

Grade 2 middle school quiz on food yesterday:

Q: Do humans taste good? (I was thinking I'd get no, disgusting, or yes, bears & lions like them.)
Student: Yes.
Me: Why?
Student: Harvard research shows they have similar DNA to other animals & human meat is well-marbled.

Quote unquote, or pretty close.
Wasnt expecting that. Same girl cant spell "spaghetti."

I have a grade 5 student like that.
She talks endlessly about human DNA, but
she challenged me at the spelling bee, she spelled it "spaRghetti"
