Im not sure if this has been talked about before.

I was just told by a recruiter that there is a blacklist used by the main recruiter group (about 15 companies) called KFTRA. Basically, if you are on that list, those 15 companies won't even consider offering you a job.

She said the blacklist is not accessible by schools or hagwans, only recruiters.

They are probably places you wouldn't want to work for as it is!

who cares, this is just a revenge tactic for the latest IRSK site (www.schoolsinkorea.com)

Hint - dont go through a recruiter and get hired straight from the school. Its not brain surgery

also, recruiters are mad that their bad tactics become widely known. Revenge happens in korea, so dont make anyone mad.

This news is years old. You used to be able to look at all the people on the list, but now you have to log in. Can't remember the site, but it was very interesting.

And anybody who thinks that there shouldn't be a teacher blacklist obviously hasn't met some of the people I have.

any person who matches ALL this criteria should be blacklisted

is over 40 and coming here for the first time to teach, chain smokes and drinks like he is 20, is divorced & has a kid back in the states, still does drugs (even at his age), meets korean women online and asks them to move in with him, lies and says that he has a business back in his home state and that he is here for an "experience", feels that getting his bonus means he is rich, and wants to get married to a korean asap because the new E2 visa rules changed a couple of years ago.

Believe it or not, I bet you have met atleast one good-for-nothing that matches all this criteria.

this isn't a revenge list, they have rules to membership and must list detailed reasons for the blacklist

Besides being illegal (1-interfering with someone's search for employment, 2-defamation/libel/slander), how is this list not revenge?

This list is illegal under the labour standards act. I hope they told you this by email. I suggest a visit to your local labour office is in order, depending on why you are on the list.

If I was a recruiter, I would ask both sides thier points.

I worked at a school that fired me for "not" signing a new contract that took away all my rights and broke Koreas labor laws.

They prefered filipino teachers because they could pay them half the wage, even though thier english sucked.

I had recently signed a new contract after 3 weeks of negotiation and didn't want to sign a new one that screwed me.

I didn't take it well and probably have been blacklisted because of that.

I regret my attitude and my behaviour now, though at the time I was pissed.
