Ahhhh, the SMPA webpage seems to be heating up again lately. I love their well thought-out replies.

Dear Chris.

In korea, homosexual is not illegal behavior.

So we can not arrest homos on the suspicious of Homosexual, etc.

Thanks!

Why did you bring up this website..

The last things we foreigners need is more idiot foreigners typing up stupid (RiDiCuLoUs) things on that site to show Korean police how idiotic we are..

but I did see this one - MY Goodness! The police actually replied to some person and said the age of consensual sex is 14 (western age)!

We are sorry for late replay.

The answer is :

Drinking: Korean Age: _21_ Western Age: _20_

Voting: Korean Age: _21_ Western Age: _20_

Sexual Consent: Korean Age: _15_ Western Age: _14_

Marriage (boys): Korean Age: _20_ Western Age: _19_

Marriage (girls): Korean Age: _18_ Western Age: _17_

Thanks!

But common people - please don't write trash on their website - they are trying to provide a service for us.

The police are providing an important service: comic relief.

Huh? No, they are not. As Koreans are taught from childhood, they are providing a means to snitch on our neighbors, friends and relatives. In a country where police will investigate a jealous ex-girlfriends claims of drug use, that site is nothing but a snapshot of how ineptly the law is 'enforced' here.
