Ok. Not original, but who did your parents listen to that you still do (or have in CDs or on your hard-drive)? Less political than my last post. My parents grew up in the 60's, hence no Pink Floyd or Zeppelin. For me it's the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Doug Kershaw.
Enlightenment from the land of the morning calm, please! |

My folks were Depression-era kids and grew up with things like Big Band. I've always been a fan of that type of music, along with the music of my generation (60s & 70s rock). |

Oh wow, do I remember giving my dad grief for listening to Hank Williams. Was I ever wrong. |

Alice Cooper! My Mom was a huge fan in the 70's. She had a younger brother (11 years) that was into him in the late 80's/early 90's. That's how I caught on and she got back into him. |

Pretty much everything they introduced me to- Gilbert & Sullivan, Classical, Theater Organ, Celtic, stuff you'd hear on 'A Prairie Home Companion', Opera, Musicals, Jazz, Bluegrass. Best part was I got to see music from all of those genres live at one point or another as a kid. My mom played Celtic music (concertina) and my dad was was one of the restorers of the theater organ at the Michigan Theater, and the theater itself, which he served on the Board of Directors.

My parents had awesome taste in music that I didn't appreciate until I turned 22-23. I remember sitting through a lot of that stuff reading Calvin & Hobbes or Dragonlance books...what a shame

Oh man, I want a theater organ so bad. I had a gig playing piano for silent movies a few years back, and I've been a bit obsessed since. Can your pa hook me up with one, cheaplike, when I get back from Korea? |
