Anyone seen this? I watched the first episode and thought it was OK but some of the acting was kind of bad and it was a bit melodramatic in parts. I preferred the American version(s) better but then someone on imdb.com mentioned the UK version was more legally accurate. Not sure if that's true and if this person is familiar with both US and British law.
So I think I'll give it another chance and watch the 2nd episode.
I thought the theme song and credits looked really dated, like it was made in 1995. And why do they still use wigs in the British courts? It seems like such a pointless tradition and a bit ridiculous. Do they wear them in any other countries like Ireland, Australia, NZ? |

The only reason why I watch Law and Order: UK is for Freema Agyeman and Jamie Bamber.
Season 2 is better than Season 1.
(And yes, it did make me mad that they used a different theme song instead of the usual Law and Order theme). |

Law and Order UK (S1, at least) is almost exactly L&O US S1. I found that disappointing because I've seen the old episodes so much I already knew what would happen. Seeing as the original was made in 1989-90 in the US, some of the laws and technologies have changed as well as socio-economic realities. For example, in one American episode it was a poor black Haitian criminal, while in the UK version it was a poor black Nigerian criminal. So, you see, they've updated it completely.
Apollo...err, I mean Jamie Bamber is great. |

Yes, they still use wigs in the Australian and NZ court system. Not in the
Magistrates court but in the District court's and Supreme court's. |

| Haven't seen it, but can imagine it's not as good as the American one. I find the original is usually best, like The Office USA isn't as good as the original UK one, neither is Life on Mars USA as good as the original, or Queer as Folk USA. |
