I am considering applying for jobs in Korea. I have taught English in several countries before. In one of those jobs, a nice Canadian girl told me she had had a fairly good time in a private kindergarten/elementary type position in Busan WITH A 9 TO 5 SCHEDULE..
The school was well organised and supplied her with teaching materials.
I am considering this as an option, but I am a British man. I have taught very young children.
What are these schools like? Can you advise me on how to prepare for Korea if I am picked? |

a word of warning, most people i know who work at private kindergartens are terribly unhappy with their choice to do so. you begin to realize that 9-5 really means 9-whenever we say you can go. often times planning is poorly executed and you end up working overtime for no compensation. expect your contract to be violated constantly. expect to work on saturday even if it says you don't. expect every shady thing you can imagine. hagwons are designed to cheat parents and you out of money. i've never heard of someone working at one who's boss didn't screw them over in some way. personal experience included.
go for a public school. |

Kindy hagwon? We're talking about a NIGHTMARE.
Oh, you will be "picked." There are plenty of these terrible jobs in Korea. |

Of course I met a girl who had taught in a good kindergarten. But she was Canadian and female with blond hair. Maybe it helped. She loved small children.
I want to work hard but not get screwed. Can you reccommend any good schools in South Korea? |
