So I went into a HiMart today with my Korean girlfriend, and we stumbled upon some iPhones.
We had a look at the pricing plan and called over one of the HiMart workers to ask a few questions.

However, the clerk's first utterance ask if he could see my ID card, so I obliged and showed it to him.
At this point the K girlfriend whipped it from me, and handed to the store clerk who said "Ah E2" and then scurried off to a computer and began tapping in my details at lightning speed.
Somewhat perplexed, I verbally WTF'd and the K girlfriend asked for the card back, which we indeed did receive.
However I'm still perplexed as to the motives for his actions:

Was this part of a store policy of overzealous market research by HiMart?
Was he checking my credit history before answering my fricken' questions?
Or had I slagged off the iPad too much and he was checking if I was on Apple's naughty list?

What do you think? Has this happened to anyone else?

He was probably putting in your information into KT's system to make sure you could actually qualify to buy an Iphone.

After you qualify, than he'd answer all of your questions. If you didn't qualify then he's probably tell you, and then send you on your way so he can help someone else.

Don't those iphones require a two year contract?

It'd be easier to give blood than get an iphone probably.

I got a basic new phone last week from a phone store. Every store I went to asked to see my ID, take it to check on a computer and or call someone about it.

lol, yeah I'm kinda kidding.
But seriously, have you seen all the occult symbols around HiMart?
I mentioned this to one of the clerks and he responded VERY suspiciously.
