I just had my boss threaten to try to get me fired due to a prescription a korean doctor gave me in a korean hospital.

I suffer from chronic migraines, and usually take Oxycocet for them. When I got to korea a doctor at severance hospital prescribed me oxyconten for my headaches because Ocycocet is unavailable in korea.

I have never taken it while working, and the only reason my boss knows I am prescribed it is because I told her. She is trying to tell me that it is an illegal drug and I am an addict and should be fired.

What the hell should I do here?

I could, I also have a prescription in hand. But she doesnt seem to get it. She thinks I am gertting doped up everyday or something. It all started because I told her I was not feeling well because my doctor gave me too many different medications.

Basically I need to know if they even have the right to do that.

Yeah no it is my third month and I am blond haired and green eyed( maybe they want blue). Basically she seems convinced that taking medication is the same as doing illegal drugs. Is there any kind of job security in this friggin country. Who can I call to call this bitch out on this?

That's odd, since I have never seen a country overmedicate themselves like Korea does.

You went from saying that you were on one medication to saying you have too many medications? So what is it? One or many? Are they making it harder for you to work if you are on more than one.

Here comes the lecture that few people like to hear. It goes like this: your body uses symptoms to talk to you, the healthier someone is the less the body has to say before the person gets what needs to be changed in their life.

So if your body needs to give you a mindgraine just so you take notice then you are very disconnected from your body. On top of this you take medication to try and shut your body up even more.

You need major lifestyle changes . You are probably packing too much toxins into your body or not drinking close to enough water, or,or........

I wouldn't want a disconnected person working for me either. A druggie is a druggie even if it's from the doc. Out of compassion I act like a jerk because I know it takes a loud voice to reach you.

SO HEAR IT IS -MAKE SOME CHANGES TO YOUR LIFE-STOP TRYING TO SUPRESS YOUR FELLINGS WITH DRUGS. She is noticing that you are not all there. Good for her as we shouldn't think prescription druggies are normal. Sad that society and half the English teachers think numbing yourself with substances is normal.

1) It's none of her business, get a doctors note and have a doctor phone the bit6h.
2) You tell her if she tries anything stupid, you will take her to the labour board.
3) get hard evidence and send your story to the papers and international community and let people know why in Korea a contract means nothing.
Reaction will be swift!

Wow your not very helpful at all.

Alright here goes GUY.

Medications (plural) I am from Canada where doctors dont overmedicate you. I just had a cold and a korean Doctor gave me a shit ton of useless medications. This is what had me not feeling well at work. My stomach is not used to taking so many drugs...nor do I like to. But if I am sick my employer insists I go see a doctor and get medicine.

Medication (singular) I am regularly prescribed a single medication for Migraines. ( If you have ever had one you would not let yourself go unmedicated) I do not need them often...but when that pain hits...I would not like to be without.

I picked up my regular prescription when I went to the hospital for being sick with a cold. When the boss saw Oxycontin listed as one of my medications she basically told me I was a drug addict.

I would hardly call taking one pill every two or three weeks being a druggie...so your comment is not only uninformed, but rather ignorant too.

And I drink lots of water..by and by.

Now if someone who actually could be heplful and not just a preaching dumbass would post..I would be most grateful, as this is a serious problem that I have never encountered before.

Why does she even know what it is-it's hardly a household name.

Dunno what her reaction is all about. Didn't think your average ajumma was anti-meds at all.

Maybe it's all a big understanding....look up how to say migraine in Korean. Maybe she's confusing it with goofballs or something.

She looked it up online. I think it is a misunderstanding in the sense that she believes I am doing something illegal. But she has outright refused to let me even try to explain it further to her.

I dont understand why Koreans are so passive aggressive. It was only after I told her she was being very impolite that she told me she put in a request for my termination.

You'd think there's a bit more to it than this eg student numbers, cashflow etc.

Get your release letter in hand and money owing and start again? You're only 3 months in.

well considering I am on an e-2 visa a release letter would probably not save me from having to go back to Canada and start the whole process again. Plus I actually like my job, and my students, and save for my just hired MOD EDIT..I like my co-workers too.

Oh right....haven't been on an E2 for a while. Transfer your visa to another hagwon?

Anyhoo, it's the new manager not an owner doing this? If you can go over her head that'd be an idea.

Good luck, sounds like a headache.

Ba doom tishhhhhhh.
