Bump.
I saw on the internet photos posted by teachers who lived in that area, though I am not sure exactly what year it was, though seemed to be in the last 10 yrs.
Just needing to understand the place better and whether its worth visiting, for tourisim of a historical reason. |

I worked there once it's the furthest North you can go without getting into North Korea. It's extremly isolated. On the positive side the people there are really laid back and friendly. The standards are really low. You will get tons of time off in the winter and summer vacation. You will have to take up some kinda hobby or you'll go nutts. Learning Korean is a good idea.
They also send the weakest Korean co-teachers there. So you will either deal with someone who is incompetent but kind. Most people there will go out of there way to help you but at the same time you won't get many English speakers there. |
