Another query about online tefl courses, does anyone have any info about this one having done it in the past or what not? It would be useful to get some feedback before I enroll. Cheers sweeties!

Yeah its alright. First few bits are a bit confusing. Its a good thing to have but i still havent used much of it in teaching in Korea. Dont pay to come to Korea like they advertise on their website.

Some employers look for it and some dont. There are more advanced ones but if you are here for only a little while it might be useful...

I did it just to pad my resume. I already had 7 years of experience teaching in Korea when I did it. However, some employers do look for that magic "TESL Certificate" on the resume. Most of them won't ask you about what kind of course you did. They just want to see those magic words.

I didn't find it terribly helpful, although I suppose if I'd done it before coming to Korea, I would've found it much more helpful. Actually, I'd proably still be working on the grammar module. Wink

I completed it in just over two weeks. As I said, it was pretty easy, especially since I had 7 years experience under my belt. The marker always marked my module by the next day, except over the weekends, as is stated on the website. I actually disagreed with a couple of the questions on the grammar module. I didn't ask for them to change my mark, however I suggested they change the questions to avoid confusion in the future. They were very polite and receptive to my comments.

Overall, I pretty much got what I expected. I didn't plan on learning a lot. I just wanted a shiny certificate I could flash in front of employers. That's what I've got. Very Happy

P.S. In the end, didn't need the certificate for my current job, but I've got it now if the need ever arises in the future.

hmm yes, well Ive been here for only 3 months, so I reckon it can't hurt my teaching skills, and like you say, the certificate is nice to have if only to have some qualification on paper to back up the practical stuff. Thanks for the words, thinking about it, I doubt the companies that offer online tefls can differ too much from one another in terms of standards (correct me if I'm wrong) so it may be aswell just to get enrolled. Cheers peeps. Smile

Yeah WTF were some of those questions about??? Even my dad who has done an online degree was a bit confused about it. I did it in three weeks and I took my time.

Its not hard and as Confused saidsome employers do look for it but dont expect to use it as leverage later in your contract by saying you are a qualified teacher. Unless you are Confused Canadian...

Hmmmm....where exactly did I say I was a "qualified teacher"? Or that I planned to use it as leverage later in my contract? Just curious...
