| I will be renewing my E-2 visa at the same job. Last year I turned in my CBC, a health check, a drug screen and an HIV test. Do I have to repeat all of that this year? Anyone done this recently? Information would be helpful. |

Whatever you employer might say here is the lowdown (word from the top) about what you need.
1) You need your ARC card
2) you need your Visa (passport)
3) You need a copy of your contract
4) You need the schools operating license (School certificate of authenticity)
5) W30,000 for processing
6) W20,000 for exit and re-entry permit.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESUBMIT YOUR E2 VISA HEALTH CHECK AND CRIMINAL RECORDS CHECK!
I did this last year and again this year... this is the procedure! |

| I just renewed mine last week. The above poster is absolutely correct..although in my case I was asked to provide TWO signed copies of the contract. |

| sorry to hijack, but is the process similar if you're switching schools, but remaining in korea (or going home for a very short period of time, i.e. 1 or 2 weeks)? |

This only applies if you're renewing at the same school. If you're applying at different school and/or have any break in between the contract, you'll have to start the whole process over as if you're applying for a new E-2. |

I switched schools last year, so just transferred my visa from one Employer to another.
I didn't have to resubmit anything, but had to give one picture, release letter and my new Employer went with me and made the application. I got it the next day. The fee was 30 000 Won I think. Don't remember exactly.
If you're going to leave Korea for a few weeks and are definitley coming back, I'd suggest transferring your visa first and then going away (if your new Employer doesn't have a problem with this of course). |

What's this? Only necessary if you're leaving the country, right? |

How long did it take? Did you get your passport back on the same day or did you have to wait for it to be processed?
Thanks |

The whole process takes about 5 mins, that is if you have all your documents ready. And yes, you get your passport back right away. They will stamp a new Visa on your passport as soon as you pay the 30,000 W fee. They will also put an extension check on your ARC (no new card though, therefore no new picture)
About the 20,000 W exit and re-entry fee. It depends on where your home country is. If it is Canada, it's 30,000 W for a Single entry, and 50,000 W for a Multiple entry. Unless they changed the fees recently.
I went through this process in Nov 2009. |
