If there are no kids and school is closed (and there are no teachers in at all, not even seat warming), can the school make you take this as part of your 20 days of vacation? Is there anything in the GEPIK contract to support or not support this? - don't have a copy to hand at the moment..
Thanks |

It all depends on whether your school wants to be helpful or wants to screw you around. |

The above poster is correct. My SMOE school wanted me to take non-red days that the school is closed as vacation days (during chuseok, for example) and the people at SMOE backed them up.
I'd politely ask GEPIK to clarify their position, if I were you, but don't be surprised if they side with your school. |

Yep, my SMOE school forced me to do that and guess what??...I am now sitting in an empty school writing you, watching Lost and printing out 500 page grammar books on their laser printer BECAUSE I don't have enough vacation days left to use.
It all depends on the principal or v-p. It's a crap shoot. I'm rolled snake-eyes and am leaving this school in a couple weeks. Thank God. |

| I should add something here. At my school I am free to come in and deskwarm in lieu of taking a vacation day. I don't know the schoolboard's stance on this issue. |

| What you should do is to tell your VP or co-teacher to open the office door so that you can desk warm. |

There's always at least one person at my school. The doors are always open and i'm required to deskwarm. I even have to sign in and out and have whoever is there to sign it. Other than that no one cares/knows/checks in on me 3-4 days of the week when I have to deskwarm, I would sign in at 9, leave school, come back at 4:30, sign out at 5 |

This is what I did. Except I signed in and signed out 14 times on day one then never showed up again. All they wanted was a sheet that was signed for future reference. No one actually checked whether I was there during that time. |
